Answers - ABOUT US
1.1) WHAT & WHO IS RBTCS?
RBTCS stands for RHEMA Bible Training Center Singapore, sometimes referred to as RHEMA Singapore.

RBTCS was founded in 2001, and to date has trained hundreds of laborers for the kingdom of God. These laborers include people from all walks of life, both young and old. They come from a variety of denominations – Methodist, Presbyterian, Assemblies of God, Independent Churches, Salvation Army, Anglican, Baptist, Full Gospel and others– as well as from many of the non-denominational churches that are flourishing here in Singapore. They come from a broad spectrum of nations around the world, such as China, England, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Russia, Singapore, Tanzania, Thailand, the USA, and Zimbabwe.

As these laborers come and are immersed in an environment of faith, in the Word of God, and in the anointing of the Holy Spirit, they are trained to fulfill the unique call of God upon their lives, and to do so with a notable quality: an unshakable faith in God and His Word, in the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit.

Known by many as the "Antioch of Asia," Singapore is strategically placed and divinely ordained by God to be a beacon of light and a hub from which the gospel will be proclaimed to the nations of Southeast Asia and beyond. RHEMA Singapore is preparing laborers to go forth into these vast fields that are ripe unto harvest, at home in Singapore as well as unto the uttermost part of the earth.

1.2) WHAT ARE THE RHEMA DISTINCTIVE?
RBTCS emphasizes faith in God's word; who believers are, what they have  and what they can do "in Christ"; the authority of the believer, and the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit.

1.3) WHAT MAKES RBTCS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER BIBLE SCHOOLS?
RBTCS has a specific focus on training believers by imparting to them an unshakeable faith in God's Word and the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

The instructors are committed to teaching not only Bible knowledge and information, but also to allowing the Holy Spirit to work through them to impart spiritual gifts and grace to the students in order to equip them to run their race and to fulfil the ministry to which the Lord has called them.

RBTCS is not simply a Bible school. Our goal is not merely academic. We are a ministry training center, and we endeavor to help students learn to recognize the call of God upon their lives, and to teach them how to be led by and yielded to the Holy Spirit in order to fulfill that call in the power of God.

RBTCS trains your heart and imparts faith in God's Word and the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

1.4) WHO ARE THE DIRECTORS OF RBTCS?
Rev. Joseph and Mary Purcell are the Directors of RBTCS.

They were married in 1981 and have four children (Joseph, Peter, John, and Katie) who have served with them on the mission field. Prior to entering the ministry full time, Rev. Purcell was a practicing lawyer for over eleven years. He graduated from RHEMA Bible Training Center in the US in 1988, and is ordained through the RHEMA Ministerial Association International (RMAI), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA.

After Rev Purcell graduated from RHEMA, he began ministering in the villages of Bush Alaska. In 1992, the Purcells moved to a small town in Chukotka, Russia, situated about 160 miles south of the Arctic Circle, where they established what is believed to be the first evangelical church in that particular part of Russia, conducted short-term Bible school training, and had a part in nurturing and establishing two other churches in that remote region. The mission they established in Chukotka continues to go strong and has established additional churches in other villages of Chukotka.

In 1998, the Purcells moved to Khabarovsk, in the Russian Far East, near the border with China. There they helped establish a Bible school, provided leadership training, pastored a local church, and supported ministry to homeless and neglected children.

In August of 2004, the Purcells relocated their ministry base to Singapore where they serve as the directors of RHEMA Bible Training Center Singapore, teaching faith in God’s Word and the anointing of the Holy Spirit. They also minister in a variety of both denominational and non-denominational churches throughout Singapore, and, as the Lord leads, travel to various nations preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the power and demonstration of the Holy Spirit. Visit www.joepurcell.org to learn more about the Purcells’ ministry.

2.2 ) HOW WILL WE BE ASSESSED?
The purposes of assessment are to promote student learning, evaluate the student’s progress and judge the effectiveness of the programme. Through assessment, we strive to highlight the student’s strengths and expertise rather than underscore what the student does not know.

Generally, most students find the examinations and assignments to be easy. The following modes of assessment are used:

Examinations – Most of our examinations are objective in nature with 25 to 30 questions. (True/False, Multiple Choice and Mix and Match)

Reading Assignments – In most modules taught, approximately 200 pages are required to be read for each subject.

Written Assignments – In some modules, a written assignment or project is required.

Part-time Programme
RHEMA Modular Studies (RMS)

The part-time programme is also known as the RHEMA Modular Studies (RMS). There are three options within the RMS programme:

(i) Diploma (Part-Time)
Students who select this option will be able to use modules taken for credit to obtain a Diploma in Christian Education, through the RMS (part-time) programme, issued by RBTCS.

Students are required to fulfill all module requirements: apply for and be accepted into the Diploma programme, fulfill the attendance requirements, complete all module and reading assignments, and sit for an examination at the end of the module.

Time required to complete the Diploma programme in its entirety through RMS varies according to your personal commitment level. You are able to take these modules at your own pace, suited according to your schedule.

(ii) Credit
Students may take modules for credit without having to enroll in the Diploma programme. Credit students are required to fulfill all module requirements and to sit for an examination at the end of the module.

Should a credit student later decide to enroll in the Diploma programme, modules previously taken for credit may be applied toward the Diploma issued by RBTCS, provided the student applies for and is accepted into the Diploma programme.

(iii) Audit
Students may select this option if they do not intend to take the diploma. Students taking audit modules are not required to fulfill the module requirements. The tuition fee is also slightly lower.

Audit modules taken prior to 1 September 2008 may be converted to credit should the audit student apply for and be accepted into the diploma programme. Audit modules taken after 1 September 2008 may not be converted from Audit to Credit.

If a student thinks that he or she may subsequently wish to apply for the diploma programme, it would be better to take each module for credit.

2.12) DO YOU OFFER ONLINE MODULES/DIPLOMA?
Currently, we do not offer online modules/Diploma. Our reputation for excellence causes many to inquire if they can take classes by correspondence or online.

We believe strongly that being present in the classroom with the instructor is a key part of the training that we offer. In the classroom setting you are receiving not only academic knowledge and information, but also impartations of grace and truth through the anointing of the Holy Spirit that simply cannot be duplicated through online modules. In addition to opportunities for hands- on training to compliment your classroom instruction, there is also something very special about being on campus and surrounded by people of like faith.

2.13) Is RBTCS accredited?
RBTCS is not an accredited school, however graduates from RBTCS have been successful in obtaining transfer credit for a portion of their RBTCS transcript with some local Bible colleges and accredited theological schools in Singapore.

2.14) Do you transfer credits from other schools?
We do not transfer credits from other schools. We recognize that there are other institutions that students may have attended before coming to RBTCS and that they may have received valuable teaching. Our system is not structured as such that students are able to take only a certain part of the curriculum. We also believe that the ten months that students set apart to study the Word of God is a valuable part of the training we offer.

2.15) Do you give credit for life/ministry experience?
We believe that it is important for every RBTCS student, regardless of their background, to receive the same solid foundation through the teaching of the Word here. Therefore, we do not give incoming students credit from other schools or organizations, or for “life or ministry experience.”

Answers - GENERAL

4.1) HOW IS RBTCS LINKED TO RHEMA USA (RBTC)?
RHEMA Bible Training Center (RBTC) was founded in 1974 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin and his wife, Oretha, with the help of his son and daughter-in-law, Revs Kenneth and Lynette Hagin, and in 1975, celebrated the graduation of its charter class of fifty-eight people.

Today, over thirty years later, RBTC now resides on a beautiful campus of over one hundred acres and has trained over 30,000 people from around the world, of all ages and from all walks of life.  RHEMA graduates currently serve in every inhabited continent as pastors, teachers, children's workers, youth ministers, worship leaders, and in many other capacities within their home churches and communities taking the message of faith and the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to their homes and to the nations of the world.

RBTC continues to expand its outreach and increase its effectiveness in preparing believers to fulfill the call of God on their lives. RBTC has grown from its initial school in the United States to include training centers in thirteen additional nations (Austria, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Romania, Singapore, South Pacific, Thailand and the United States of America), with plans for expansion in the near future!

Each training center carries the same call, the same anointing, the same message, the same divine mandate, the same truths and the same purpose as RBTC: to train believers who will complete the plan of God for their lives as they work together to help fulfill the Great Commission and help to usher in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ!

4.3) WHAT IS RHEMA’S STATEMENT OF FAITH?

The RBTCS Statement of Faith:

The Scriptures
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.  The New Covenant, as recorded in the New Testament, we accept as our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine.  (2 Tim. 3:16; 1 Thess. 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21)

The Godhead
Our God is one, but manifested in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, being co-equal.  (Phil. 2:6). God the Father is greater than all; the Sender of the Word (Logos) and the Begetter. (John 14:28; John 16:28; John 1:14)

The Son is the Word flesh-covered, the One Begotten, and has existed with the Father from the beginning (John 1:1; John 1:18; John 1:14).

The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal.  (John 15:26)

Man, His Fall and Redemption
Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world.  “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”  “As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.”   Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the works of the devil and gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God. (Rom. 5:14; Rom. 3:10; Rom. 3:23; 1 John 3:8)

Salvation
Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God.  (Eph. 2:8)

Eternal Life and the New Birth
Man’s first step toward salvation is godly sorrow that worketh repentance.  The New Birth is necessary to all men, and when experienced, produces eternal life.  (2 Cor. 7:10; 1 John 5:12; John 3:3-5)

Water Baptism
Baptism in water is by immersion, is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for believers only.  The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.   (Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:3;   Col. 2:12; Acts 8:36-39)

The following recommendation regarding the water baptismal formula is adopted; to wit: “On the confession of your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and by His authority, I baptize you in the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.”

Baptism in the Holy Ghost
The Baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers in this dispensation and is received subsequent to the New Birth. This experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance.  (Matt. 3:11; John 14:16, 17; Acts 1:18; Acts 2:38,39; Acts 19:1-7; Acts 2:4)

Sanctification
The Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord.  We believe in the Doctrine of Sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of salvation at Christ’s return. (Heb. 12:14; 1 Thess. 5:23;  2 Peter 3:18; 2 Cor. 3:18; Phil. 3:12-14;  1 Cor. 1:30)

Divine Healing
Healing is for the physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith, and by the laying on of hands. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ, and is the privilege of every member of the Church today. (Mark 16:18; James 5:14,15; 1 Peter 2:24; Matt. 8:17; Isa. 53:4,5)

Resurrection of the Just and the Return of Our Lord
The angels said to Jesus’ disciples, “…this same Jesus…shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”  His coming is imminent.  When He comes,  “the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air…”  (Acts 1:11; I Thess. 4:16,17)  Following the Tribulation, He shall return to earth as King of kings, and Lord of lords, and together with His saints, who shall be kings and priests, He shall reign a thousand years.  (Rev. 20:6)

Hell and Eternal Retribution
The one who physically dies in his sins without accepting Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire, and therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting.  The Lake of Fire is literal.  The terms “eternal” and “everlasting,” used in describing the duration of the punishment of the damned in the Lake of Fire, carry the same thought and meaning of endless existence as used in denoting the duration of joy and ecstasy of saints in the Presence of God. (Heb. 9:27; Rev. 19:20)

4.4) WHAT DOES RHEMA TEACH ABOUT FAITH?
Faith is not mechanical, neither is it a formula nor a ritual. Faith is the outgrowth of a personal relationship with the Living God through the person of the Lord Jesus Christ as He has been revealed to us through the Bible—God's precious, holy, written word.

Without faith, it is impossible to please God. (Heb 11:6). We are saved by faith, live by faith, and walk by faith. (Ephesians 2:8; Galatians 3:11; 2 Corinthians 5:7). Our faith is our victory over the world. (1 John 5:4). Faith comes as we hear the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17). The word of God is the will of God, and faith begins where the will of God is known. We can have faith for that which God has promised to us in His word.

All of the redemptive blessings that belong to us in Christ—including salvation, healing, forgiveness, wisdom, prosperity, victory and more—are appropriated by faith as we believe with our heart and confess with our mouth. (Ephesians 1:3; Romans 10:10; Hebrews 6:12). The spirit of faith speaks—if we believe, we will speak,  and we are instructed to hold fast to the confession of our faith without wavering. (2 Corinthians 4:13; Hebrews 4:14-16; 10:23; Romans 4:20; James 1:6).

4.5) WHAT DOES RHEMA TEACH ABOUT PROSPERITY?
It is the will of God that we prosper and be in health, even as our soul prospers. (3 John 2). Prosperity is more than financial: it affects the spirit, soul and body of the believer.

The Old Testament concept of shalom-peace conveys the sense of wholeness, well-being and prosperity that God desires for his children. Poverty was not part of God's original creation. It entered into the world through the fall of man and is part of the curse of the law which the Lord Jesus Christ bore on our behalf in His substitutionary death on the cross. (Deuteronomy 28: 17-18, 20, 48; 2 Corinthians 8:9; Galations 3:13). The word of God states that He will prosper those who tithe and sow bountifully, supplying their needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus and making grace abound toward
